About Me

I am an Educational Psychologist working in private practice in Bryanston, Johannesburg.

I am registered with the Health Professions of South Africa as an independent practitioner.  I am passionate about mental health, child development, and education.

I work with people across the lifespan from diverse backgrounds. I believe that the work of psychological treatment begins with a willingness to explore all of life’s experiences with curiosity and insistence. The complexity of human existence is fascinating, encompassing both joyous highs and sorrowful lows, and all the challenges that occur in between. It’s what makes us unique and worth self-examination.

My Professional Journey

I was led to this work by a nagging empathy for vulnerable children and young people. I have worked with at-risk children, young people and their families in South Africa and the United Kingdom. Finding myself in various non-profit organizations, I have gained experience providing psychosocial services to marginalized people groups. This cemented my pursuit of professional training as a psychologist. As part of my training and professional development, I have worked in the higher education setting, helping university students with career decisions, exploring their academic needs and supporting them through the journey of self-actualization in early adulthood.

As a young professional, I then worked for a non-profit organization that provides mental health services to a vibrant yet underserved township. This work was focused on preventative mental health interventions that look at the family and the parent-child relationship as foundational to building psychological well-being throughout the lifespan. I have experience working in the remedial school setting as a learning support specialist. Central to this part of my work has been collaborating with other professionals and specialists to provide holistic care for neurodiverse children and their families.

I am a psychodynamically orientated psychologist and child psychotherapist. Through psychotherapy and psychological assessments, I provide private services that look to encourage the development of children’s capabilities and strengths. I also provide psychotherapy to adolescents, young adults, parents and families with a wide range of difficulties and struggles. In my work with those in distress, I aim to provide a thinking space that is a conduit for emotional and psychological growth.
