Adult Psychotherapy

Adult psychotherapy is a collaborative process between the psychologist and an individual. It is a personalised approach tailored to the specific needs and challenges of each client on the journey to developing the whole self. Becoming oneself involves letting go of unrealistic versions of oneself, others, and relationships. It means re-evaluating self-made or imposed dreams, choices and hopes. It also involves accepting lost opportunities and unexplored paths. These challenges arise at all stages of life, but are most demanding during significant transitions or when met with difficulties. These losses test our capacity to mourn, feel remorse, take responsibility, experience guilt, and express gratitude.

All these psychological states are crucial for a person to love, and experience love. They are linked to the balance between how one perceives and relates to the world around them.

“Love and work are the cornerstones of our humanness” – Sigmund Freud
